Founded in 2018, BrotherJohnson 1929 Hat Co. was created in loving memory of Dr. William Mylious Johnson Jr. (August 15, 1929), a man who wore many hats in life and lived a life of distinction. Born in Harlem, New York, Dr. Johnson's journey took him from lightweight boxing champion to respected preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His signature style and unwavering character continue to inspire every collection we create.

Dr. Johnson's greatest legacy was his family. Together with his wife, Dr. Celeste Ashe Johnson, he raised two sons—renowned musician William Mylious Johnson III and pastor and community leader Ashley J. Johnson—instilling the values of Strength, Loyalty, and Distinction that remain the foundation of our brand today.
